Numbers Make Cents Summer Release Party at Ham & Eggs Tavern #dtla #streetwear

In Downtown Los Angeles - new streetwear brand Numbers Make Cents has really been making sense to the new dtla retail shopper. We see the popular logo on neon signs of store fronts and cyclist delivery boys racing through dtla reppin the brand. Believe it or not - this brand has girls rockin the snap backs and tanks too and are priding themselves as a brand for all.

Last week at the recently renovated Ham & Eggs Tavern (8th/Olive) that used to be a mom & pop Chinese (if not mistaken) lunch spot for the local businesses. Now a hipsterish pub where $5 glasses of beer and wide variety of wine now fill the menu.

It made cents for the brand to celebrate their new SS product at this spot - PBR’s in fists and music filled the second room with music of all genre’s; i recall dancing to a bit of merengue haha!

Summer Hair Trends 2013

By: BG HAiRDESiGN

With Memorial weekend right around the corner, that only means one thing.. Summer is here!

With pool parties, BBQ’s, and hot nights out there are so many styles for your hair to keep you looking and feeling cool!

No matter what the occasion one thing that will be a sure hit is free, natural, hippie hair. During the summer we want something easy and hassle free. Whether your hair is wavy, kinky, or straight. Creating or embracing texture is what summer is all about. Let your hair be free, it’s on summer vacation! The great thing about these styles is they are office appropriate as well. Here are some easy options for any hair type—

image

For those day old curls… Braid in some colored yarn!

image

Add two loose waves framing your face on natural air dried hair. With a hat this gives the illusion of beachy waves with out all the fuss.

image

This look can go from pool to party.. Let your natural texture be, sweep softly back and twist into little buns and add a serum to control frizz.

image

For this chic messy look, create a half pony, by not fully pulling the ponytail all the way through. Randomly pull out pieces to create a fallen ponytail. A new take on half up half down.

image

The best of both. Wet and dry. Messy matte hair combined with smooth glossy sides creates a dimensional look for both day and night.

image

Braids coming from your pony or plated to your head are always a staple summer style. For a more undone look pull pieces out to frame your face.

TRUJILLO Collection "The Dead Rose" fashion show @ Oceans Seven with DJ IMAGE & Shaus of Sunset Lilly Ghalichi

TRUJILLO Collection “The Dead Rose”

Designer/Creative Director: Arthur Trujillo

HAIR/MUA Director: Frankie Scissorhands

Runway Director & International Model: Guetcha Tondreau

Models: Stacy Ray, Berenice Gomez, Alexis Hermosillo, Zurc Athena, Robert Astrada, Eduardo Zubieta, Vince Garcia

MUA Team: Sonia Robertson, Danecia Arenas, Daniel Bustamante

Special thanks to DJ IMAGE & Oceans Seven Nightclub <3

“I was inspired by a dead white rose and wanted to tell a dark romantic story through the clothes. A beautiful flourishing rose that turned into a dead yellow off-white color with a rippled texture that is so delicate. I kept the rose lying around my apartment for inspiration & it ended up becoming the inspiration for my first-ever collection. I’ve always had a eye for the darker side of fashion & felt this collection mood would express my vision truly.

The main fabrics were a light-weight georgette that is a antique-white color which I layered and lined in some pieces to give a more luxurious & ready-to-wear feel with alligator leather trim & accents. Then transitioned into the black flower lace dresses, men’s RTW denim (with spandex), alligator leather, and gold diamond button finishing’s.

Overall a vision of romance, darkness, edge, new silhouettes, creative appliques and finishing’s.”

Michael Cinco FA/WI '13 fashion show + backstage access

The Michael Cinco show by Los Angeles based Style PR presented at STYLE FASHION WEEK LA was phenominal. The most anticipated designer Michael Cinco was the finale show this season and he didn’t let us down.

Internationally famed Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco studied at SLIMS fashion & art school in the Philippines and Central Saint Martins before setting up shop in Dubai (2003) where he established Michael Cinco Haute Couture. Having worked with Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and Sofia Vagara to name a few, his very well-known couture gowns continue to exude something exotic yet so soft and beautiful.

Truly,

"Z DIMENSION" FA/WI '13 Collection by ZALEZ STUDIO

“We wanted to take our audience into the parallel universe that is ‘Z DIMENSION’ we were inspired by parallel universes and sixties movies involving time warp.”

- Zalez Boys

ZALEZ Studio presented another electrifying collection. It is always such a nice experience attending one of ZALEZ fashion shows - an intimate artistic ambiance it was inside a small loft just east of Downtown Los Angeles. Striking gowns, Zebra print fur coats, cutting edge silhouettes and computer recycled jewelry by Kelly Love summarizes the collection. The intriguing models creeped along the runway displaying one of Los Angeles’s designers to watch out for.

QUYNH Paris FA/WI '13

The Quynh Paris Fall/Winter 2013 collection was all about symmetry - from asymmetrical necklines to a one-legged bodysuit. The color story was just as easy on the eye with three main groups: Neutrals (tan, rose, and off-whites), orange monochromatic color scheme, and complementary colors black/white.

The Ready To Wear collection was overall sleek with more of a modern casual twist. These pieces can easily be taken from day to night revealing an attractive amount of skin.
